Originally built as a summer home, Meech Lake Retreat is easily accessible by car and has lots of parking near the front door. The house, with its ground floor large picture windows, period construction, timber beam details and spectacular gardens, is an ideal setting for a family vacation or an adult get-away in Canadian lake country.

Just bring your food, family and relax: The kitchen is equipped with pots, pans, dishes, cutlery, two refrigerator/freezers, a gas range, microwave oven,  and washer/dryer.  All linens; bedding and bath towels are provided – as are Beach towels and life jackets.

There is High speed WiFi and a landline.

The two-acre, private property features a large, sunny patio with BBQ, tables, Muskoka chairs among mature gardens and sweeping lawns. At the lakefront you will find a short set of stairs leading down to a seating area and the docks. This is where the canoe and two kayaks are stored. The lake has few motor boats so it’s perfect for swimming and paddling.

Meech Lake Retreat is located within the Gatineau Park and a short walk down the lane-way takes you to one of the many trailheads. Here you will find access to bike riding trails and 250 kms  of running & hiking or, in the winter, fully groomed Nordic skiing trails meandering through the the beauty and splendour of the Gatineau Park.

For a Quebec Village gastronomic delight adventure including groceries and take-out dinner take a 10-minute drive to Old Chelsea and visit one of our world-famous restaurants or le Spa Nordik-Nature – largest spa in North America. I’ve listed all the local attractions on the Things to Do page, here.

Groceries;  Forgotten beer, chips, eggs, butter and milk and all other fun, cottage fare can be found in Old Chelsea at the M&R Depanneur – cottage convenience store. A short drive along Old Chelsea Road on the Hwy 105 our unique Fresh Mart carries a large assortment of groceries, meats and organic and gluten-free foods. For a large grocery, I would suggest heading a few KMs south on the Hwy 105 where you will find the SAQ, Pharmaprix and IGA – everything in one place.

Sometimes the city attractions beckon which is an easy fix as we are only a 20-minute drive to downtown Ottawa and some of Canada’s renown National museums, galleries and events. Enjoy a morning adventure to Ottawa’s ByWard Market or National Art Gallery and an afternoon on the dock sipping a cocktail or kayaking. It’s so easy from here.
