Meech Lake Retreat is located in Canada’s National Capital Region in the Province of Quebec – this region is called The Outaouais [oot-a-way] Outaouais Tourism and is a remarkable tourism area for outdoor sports, leisure and for gastronomy. A lot of Ottawa folks come to Old Chelsea by bike or bring their visitors here – it’s packed on the weekend.
Let’s take a tour of the restaurants and stores you will find along the three roads that form the tri-angle of Old Chelsea and Chelsea – Old Chelsea Road, Hwy 105 and Scott Road.
We have a new coffee shop – Café Palmier – on Scott Road it’s ‘hip’ and you will love the owner Renee and barista Emmett. They have homemade Kambucha and freshly baked croissant every morning. Each week they add something new and soon will add lunch specials. – website
Restaurant Tonique is celebrating it’s 2nd year in it’s new location at the corner of Scott and Padden in Old Chelsea. A quaint restaurant where you are invited to relax and spend some time. Tonique serves an awesome traditional bacon and eggs and then everything super healthy and fresh with seating inside one of the original Old Chelsea homes or on it’s great deck looking across Scott road to the Gatineau Park. website
In 2001, La Cigale Ice Cream Shop first opened its doors in a small heritage house in Old Chelsea offering freshly churned ice cream to residents, hikers and visitors to the Gatineau Park. there is an amazing garden and wraparound porch where you can enjoy your ice cream. Chelsea Pub and Restaurant are located in the centre of Old Chelsea. It offers a gastropub type of cuisine with a great selection of homemade craft beers. It has two outside patios with views of Old Chelsea Road. website
Pizza Luigi’s is in the heart of Old Chelsea. It excels in thin crust pizza. Each choice is a mouthwatering combination of ingredients. Eat-in, Take-out, Delivery and Party Room. If you choose to stay and enjoy your pizza on the garden terrace then you can pair a beer or soda with your meal. website
Our original coffee shop Café Les Saisons is located in the heart of Old Chelsea on Old Chelsea Road as well. The mainstay of locals and visitors. Local Ottawans make the trek up to Les Saisons on their bicycles each weekend. And every morning Chelsea-ites doing the work commute stop here first. Drink sizes are generous and made to perfection – after a visit here your latté will never be quite up to par elsewhere. website
Another new spot in Old Chelsea is Meech and Munch Bistro – A super funky friendly atmosphere for a charming bistro in the heart of Old Chelsea that offers an array of mouth-watering dishes, from tartars to local cheeses, poutine and filet mignon, microbrewery beers, wines and coctails. Walking up to our magnificent St Stevens Church on Thursday afternoon you will encounter the bustling Marché Old Chelsea Farmers Market featuring vendors from the surrounding area selling local delicacies and fresh vegtables. website
The Manse of St Stevens was renovated to become La Fab. It now houses an amazing display of local artists work, for sale and viewing. website
Le Nordik Spa – Nature is world renown and located just past the church up on the hillside of Old Chlesea. This is the largest spa in North America and perhaps the world. It is enormous and offers everything including a 5-star restaurant. I suggest checking the website as there is just too much to discover here.
Strole past the entry to the Spa to and you will find A’Kabane Bistro. A quaint restaurant with a huge deck and scrumptious offerings. You will find several regional products including duck, bison, wild boar, cheese, mushrooms as well as locally sourced seasonal fruits and vegetables from surrounding market gardeners. website
Next, in contrast, The M & R Resto is our local ‘greasy spoon’ serving amazing quick comfort food, traditional bacon and eggs, grilled cheese, hard ice-cream and Hot Dog Fridays.
The M & R Depanneur next door is the traditional cottage convenience store where all beer, wine and forgotten grocery items can be found as well as lottery tickets, coffee & muffins and seasonally pumpkins and cristmas trees.

Chelsea Shawarma and Pizza is at the end of Old Chelsea road at Hwy 105. They have an amazing menu of super well made feel-good food and they have an ice-cream bar too. There is a bit of stand-up bar seating but mostly it is Take-out or Delivery. website
Bistro Pub Manchester is on Hwy 105 at Old Chelsea road. It’s a great locals pub with good diner food – wraps, salads, hamburgers & Clubs. There is an outdoor patio and inside you will find TVs with the game playing. website
Up the Hwy 105 about a km from Old Chelsea Road is a strip mall where the amazing Le Resto Fish & Seafood Bistro is located. Famous for its Fish and Chips made the old fashioned way to perfection it features a wonderful selection of seafood and fish dishes in a friendly, cosy atmosphere. website
Halfway between Scott Road and Old Chelsea Road on Hwy 105 you will find the Boucanerie Chelsea Smokehouse that features smoked fish done on the premises using maple wood chips as well as all sorts of seafood delicacies including smoked salmon quiche – all to go! You have to check out its website
At the corner of Scott Road and Old Chelsea Road on Hwy 105 is the world famous and much awarded Les Fougères Restaurant and Store. The newly renovated restaurant features bar seating where you can talk to the chef, dining tables inside and out on the screened patio. Dinner choices are very chic – bison, duck, quail, fish, seafood, potage and all the wines to pair with each dish. Or stop at the store for take-out frozen choices – tourtière, soups, savoury chicken and veg dishes and all the sauces and marmalades you can imagine. website
Located just at the edge of the Park around the corner from Old Chelsea. L’Orée du Bois is a world renown and awarded restaurant that has been in Chelsea since the 80s continually offering a traditional French country atmosphere and cuisine.
